New York-based performers Harrington & Kauffman present "Cabaret Terrarium," an epic comedy of amnesia and redemption featuring Belgian cabaret singer Gustave and his associate Nhar, the same two characters who starred in the hits "Hotel California"
(1999 NYC Fringe, 2001 HBO Aspen Comedy Festival) and "Nharcolepsy" (2003 NYC Fringe, international tour). "Cabaret
Terrarium" opens its first multi-week New York run Friday, February 5 at 8:00 pm, at Triskelion Arts in Williamsburg.

In "Cabaret Terrarium," Gustave has lost his memory while frozen in a block of ice, and must travel the world with Nhar in search of clues to the whereabouts of his family and to his own shady past. "Cabaret Terrarium" comes complete with the musical numbers and re-enactments that fans of Gustave and Nhar have come to know and love, in addition to audience interaction involving small wooden frogs in which each member of the audience gets to help the performers disguise the show as a terrarium (you'll have to come see it to find out exactly how that works).
Harrington & Kauffman's blend of deadpan humour and physical comedy puts a unique spin on the traditions of such artists as Samuel Beckett, Bill Irwin, and Theatre de Complicite.

"Cabaret Terrarium" also features directorial consulting by Patricia Buckley (Gams on the Lam), and choreography by Abby Bender (Triskelion Arts, Schmantze Theatre).

Past reviews of Harrington & Kauffman shows:

Cabaret Terrarium
"Harrington & Kauffman reinvent, or just blow up, whatever category they're meant to occupy... you'll find it either insanely brilliant, or brilliantly insane, and probably both." - Liz Nicholls, Edmonton Journal

Nharcolepsy (Best Original Concept, San Francisco Fringe Festival, 2003)

"Harrington and Kauffman raise the level of comedy to a high art." - Robert Enright, The Globe & Mail, Toronto

"The two are masters of deadpan humor, intertwining a font of Belgian grandmother jokes with a surprising amount of emotionality." - Leah B. Green, Seattle Times

"Never stops entertaining yet manages to be profoundly and soberingly enlightening at the same time (i.e., addressing those HUGE issues of life and death)."- Gilbert A. Bouchard, See Magazine, Edmonton

Motel California (Official Selection, HBO Aspen Comedy Festival, 2001)
"The actors have created two totally inexplicable characters who could probably stand on stage brushing their hair for 20 minutes and make you laugh." - Anna Ditkoff, Baltimore CityPaper

"I am excited and a little afraid to see what these two will do next." - Andy Buck, Back Stage, New York
