This week, THEATER TALK welcomes Michael Urie and Jonathan Tolins, the star and writer of the hit off-Broadway comedy Buyer & Cellar at the Rattlestick Playwrights Theater, and theater journalists Adam Feldman and Suzy Evans with an April Broadway Update. The episode premieres Friday, April 19,2013 at 1 AM (Saturday morning) on Thirteen/PBS, and repeats in New York City on CUNY TV* Saturday at 8:30 PM, Sunday at 12:30 PM, and Monday at 7:30 AM, 1:30 PM, and 7:30 PM.

Buyer & Cellaris inspired by an unlikely subject: Barbra Streisand's lavish coffee table book, My Passion for Design. In the play, Urie gives a bravura performance as an out-of-work actor hired to maintain a private mall of shops Streisand has created for herself in the basement of her barn, containing a vast hoard of fabulous acquisitions. Urie tells THEATER TALK co-hosts Michael Riedel and Susan Haskins - "There are things in her book that cost more than our entire play." Tolins addresses the delicate balance between having some fun with the unusual premise while honoring the star and her accomplishments.

Feldman, President of the New York Drama Critics' Circle and a critic for Time Out New York, and Evans, Senior Editor at Backstage, discuss the glut of new openings (15 Tony-eligible shows in the month of April), survey the terrain, and point out the brightest and darkest spots on the horizon.

The series, jointly produced by the not-for-profits Theater Talk Productions and CUNY TV, is taped in the Himan Brown TV and Radio Studios at The City University of New York (CUNY) TV in Manhattan and distributed to 65+ participating public television markets nationwide.
