The critically acclaimed NJ Rep production of BUTLER, written by Richard Strand and directed by directed by Joseph Discher is adding Sunday evening performances for its final weeks at 59E59 Theaters. There will be 7 PM performances added on Sunday, August 14 and Sunday, August 21.
It's the start of the Civil War and lawyer Benjamin Butler was just promoted to the rank of Major General at Fort Monroe, a Union hold-out in the state of Virginia. Shepard Mallory, an escaped slave, seeks sanctuary at the fort. However, the law of the land has not yet changed - slaves still are considered property and must be turned over to their "rightful owners." Does Butler follow the letter of the law or make a game-changing move that could alter the course of U.S. history?

The performance schedule is Tuesday - Thursday at 7 PM; Friday at 8 PM; Saturday at 2 PM & 8 PM; Sunday at 3 PM, with added 7 PM on Sunday, August 14 and Sunday, August 21. Performances are at 59E59 Theaters (59 East 59th Street, between Park and Madison Avenues). Single tickets range from $35 - $70 ($35 - $49 for 59E59 Members).
