This spring, Off-Broadway's acclaimed DR2 Kids Theatre (Daryl Roth, Producer) continues its partnership with Theatreworks USA (Barbara Pasternack, Artistic Director; Ken Arthur, Producing Director) -- the nation's leading not-for-profit professional theatre for young audiences -- to present "Rabbit Season" at the DR2 Kids Theatre.
"Rabbit Season" features celebrated live stage productions for families at Off-Broadway's DR2 Theatre, located in the heart of Union Square at 103 East 15th Street.
The season kicked off last fall with an acclaimed ten-week production of the new stage play based on the beloved children's tale, THE VELVETEEN RABBIT.
"Rabbit Season" continues this February with Bunnicula: A Rabbit Tale of Musical Mystery, featuring a book by legendary New York playwright and Tony Award nominee Charles Busch (The Tale of the Allergist's Wife), music by Sam Davis and lyrics by Drama Desk nominee Mark Waldrop (When Pigs Fly).
BUNNICULA begins performances on Saturday, February 9, 2013 and officially opens on Sunday, February 10 (4 p.m.). The production plays a ten-week limited engagement through Sunday, April 14.
Lock up your lettuce! Protect your parsley! Rescue your rutabaga! One dark and stormy night, the Monroe family brings home orphaned rabbit with mysterious habits... and sharp fangs. Could this new member of the family possibly be a vampire bunny?
Based on the acclaimed children's book series by Deborah & James Howe, this new musical adaptation of Bunnicula is directed by Carl Andress (The Divine Sister) and choreographed by Connor Gallagher. The show is recommended for ages four and up.
The production features musical direction by Erik Kang, scenic design by Rob Odorisio (Skippyjon Jones), costume design by Lortel Award winner Gregory Gale (The Voysey Inheritance), lighting design by Kirk Bookman (The Divine Sister) and orchestrations are by Greg Pliska (War Horse).
The Off-Broadway cast of Bunnicula: A Rabbit Tale of Musical Mystery features Abe Goldfarb as Mr. Monroe, Erin Maguire as Mrs. Monroe, Ashley Campana as Debbie, John Garry as Toby, Prescott Seymour as Chester and Robert Anthony Jones as Harold.
