BLUE MAN GROUP Vet Steve Ballstadt Named Associate Music Director of NYC Production

Blue Man Group is pleased to announce that longtime BMG veteran Steve Ballstadt will join the flagship, New York production as Associate Music Director. As Associate Music Director, part of the Blue Man Productions Direction department, Ballstadt will be charged with maintaining the aesthetic and artistic integrity of all Blue Man Group projects, with a special focus on the music and musicians. The Associate Music Director is a seasoned musician who has demonstrated the ability to embody the Blue Man Group sound as well as to teach it and develop it in others.

Ballstadt first joined Blue Man Productions in 2005, when he was hired for the Toronto production as kit/percussion performer. In 2006 he became a permanent cast member in the Amsterdam production as a performer. In 2007, he opened the Tokyo production as Trainer kit and percussion. In 2008 he opened the Stuttgart Germany production as Trainer. In 2009, he went back into the Tokyo production as a permanent cast member and Trainer. Later in 2009 he opened the Basel Switzerland production as Trainer/performer, and also that year opened the Zurich production as Trainer/performer before once again returning to the Tokyo production. In 2011 he was hired as Resident Music Director for the Boston production.
