SoHo Playhouse in New York City is proud to officially participate in the 2017 Fringe International Encore Series. This year marks the 12th annual Fringe Encore Series. This will be the first year the series expands to include shows from Adelaide, Brighton, Edinburgh, Hollywood and Winnipeg Fringe Festivals. Blamed: An Established Fiction was selected from the Hollywood Fringe Festival and will be playing in September.
Blamed: An Established Fiction recently won the 2017 Hollywood Fringe Festival Scholarship, and was nominated for Top of the Fringe and Best Dance/Physical Theatre in that festival. It was previously performed in San Diego and Tijuana, Mexico as a part of the San Diego International Fringe Festival, where it won Best Drama.
About the play: These are not your mother's fairy tales. Blamed: An Established Fiction is a new play that combines text with live music and dance to examine the girls and women throughout mythology, history, and literature who have been blamed for the ills of the world. Each culture seems to have one thing in common: A well-known tale in which a girl does something horrible, or is the victim of something horrible, and she ruins everything and everyone around her. From Eve and Pandora to Lilith and La Llorona, Blamed brings the women to life in an intoxicating mix of live music, dance, and story.
Ensemble: Callie Prendiville (playwright), Annie Lavin (choreographer), Erika Schindele, Natalie MacInnis, Zoya Martin, Rian Dixon, Norma Mendoza, Alanna Bledman, Justine Sombilon, Camille Vargas, Lillie Muir, and Emily Taylor.
Musicians: Wesley Chavez (composer), Trey Everett, and BRian Johnson (producer).
Performances will play Soho Playhouse, 15 Vandam St, New York, NY 10013. Saturday 9/16 5:00pm, Sunday 9/17 1:00pm, Monday 9/18 7:00pm, Tuesday 9/19 7:00pm, Wednesday 9/20 7:00pm Tickets: http://www.sohoplayhouse.com/event/71d79f7fda5824e4d6d76b55b10612fb
