David/Scott & Associates, LLC and Obsidian Media Group present the hit play, BLACK MAN RISING, July 22-August 1 & August 12-22, 2009 at The ArcLight Theatre, 152 W. 71st Street, New York, N.Y. 10023. Wednesday at 7:30 pm, Thursday through Saturday at 7:30pm, And Saturday Matinee at 2:00pm.

Black Man Rising, winner of four (4) AUDELCO Awards for theatre excellence, including Best Director (Patricia R. Floyd) and Outstanding Ensemble Performance, Best Choreographer (Juson Williams) and Dramatic Production of the Year, is the celebration of 2009! With an updated script including a salute to President Barack Obama, Black Man Rising is a perfect answer to the question: What Next? The play was presented at the Player's Theatre in New York City, The National Black Theatre Festival in Winston Salem, N.C. and at Dr. Barbara Ann Teer's National Black Theatre in Harlem, NY. The performance has been updated to reflect the impact of the new Obama Era on the geopolitical landscape. Black Man Rising combines step dancing, gospel music, poetry, rap, and monologues to celebrate the history and triumphs of Black manhood. Playwright James Chapman is a minister, activist, poet and motivational speaker. He has written over a dozen plays, including Our Young Black Men Are Dying and Nobody Seems To Care and one book, "The Fruits of My Veins."
