WHERE BISON RUN
Sparks fly when a young hockey star from Belarus comes to the United States for the first time to play in the NHL. As Vitaly comes of age in a strange new culture, his teammates and handlers are soon caught up in the tricky waters of American and Belarusian politics. A gripping story of sport and diplomacy, on and off the ice.
Victor Lesniewski's plays include Cloven Tongues (which recently received a reading with the NYAC Workshop at Primary Stages), First Breath After Total Devastation (NYTE's Capture the Flag Festival), and Serious Fools (Baby's Got Backroom Festival). He also wrote the book and lyrics for Conspiracy: A Love Story, a musical comedy that premiered in the summer of 2010 in The Midtown InterNational Theatre Festival. The production received five Best of the Festival nominations including Best Musical and Best Music and Lyrics. Victor is a member of the America-in-Play Workshop led by Lynn M. Thomson and Dominic Taylor. He holds a BS in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University as well as a Bar Admission with the US Patent and Trademark Office. It follows naturally that he writes plays.
Evan Cabnet (director) Current: David West Read's The Dream of the Burning Boy (Roundabout Underground) and Michele Lowe's Map of Heaven (Denver Center). Other credits include: Elizabeth Meriwether's Oliver Parker! (stageFARM/Cherry Lane) and The Mistakes Madeline Made (Naked Angels), Bekah Brunstetter's Oohrah! (Atlantic Theater Co.), Mark Schultz's The Gingerbread House (stageFARM/Rattlestick), Jonathan Caren's Friends in Transient Places, Brooke Berman's Wonderland, and Adam Szymkowicz's Hearts Like Fists (Juilliard), Tell Out My Soul (SPF '08), Training Wisteria (SPF '06), Lewis Black and Rusty Magee's The Czar of Rock and Roll (Joe's Pub), and Donald Margulies' Shipwrecked!
