Amas Musical Theatre (Donna Trinkoff/Producing Artistic Director) is launching a new program series called "The Amas Musical Theatre Song Salon", with inaugural guest Gerard Alessandrini, Tony Award-winning creator of Forbidden Broadway. The first Salon event will be held on Monday, November 15, 2010. Cocktails and hors d'oeuvres will be served at 6:00pm and the program will begin at 7:00pm, at a private midtown Manhattan residence. A limited number of tickets will be available for $75 each, in support of Amas theatre and education programming.
"The Amas Musical Theatre Song Salon" is a periodic series of informal evenings exploring the American Songbook, including conversations with its foremost practitioners and performances by guest artists. The evenings will feature limited attendance in informal and elegant environments, including private homes and apartments. Guests will receive the address upon ticket confirmation. Ticket purchases are tax deductible as allowed by law. Future Salon events will be announced on an ongoing basis.

"I'm so pleased to launch this series of special soirees with the smartest and funniest American song parodist of our era", says Amas Producing Artistic Director Donna Trinkoff. "Gerard will be sharing some of the many untold secrets and incredible stories behind our long-running favorite, Forbidden Broadway, in a very relaxed yet elegant environment", she adds. "This will be a very special evening".

"The Amas Musical Theatre Song Salon", directed by Phillip George (Forbidden Broadway, SHOUT! The Mod Musical), and music directed by David Caldwell (Forbidden Broadway), will also feature additional guest artists to be announced shortly.

Director, playwright, parodist and actor, Gerard Alessandrini is the creator of the award-winning off-Broadway musical theatre revue Forbidden Broadway. He is the recipient of Tony Honors for Excellence in Theatre, an Obie Award, four Drama Desk Awards (including the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Lyrics and the Drama Desk Special Award), an Outer Critics Circle Award, and two Lucille Lortel Awards, as well as the Drama League Award for Lifetime Achievement in Musical Theatre.
