Abingdon Theatre Company Presents Academy Award-Winner Mayo Simon's Dark Comedy Mar. 6

Abingdon Theatre Company will begin previews of its next main stage production of the 2008-2009 season, GREEK HOLIDAY, a New York premiere in the June Havoc Theatre, written by Academy Award-winner Mayo Simon and directed by Stephen Hollis, March 6 to April 5, 2009. The official opening will be on Wednesday, March 18, 2009 at 7PM.

Have you ever wanted to kill your spouse? Under the hot blue sky of a Greek Island, a married couple makes one last try at reconciliation. He lives in despair with memories of a passionate romance with another woman. She lives in silent fury over being abandoned. Their witty repartee masks fantasies of revenge. Shocking and funny, this scintillating black comedy explores the ache of lost love.

Mayo Simon's plays have been produced in many theaters in North America and Europe. They include Walking To Waldheim & Happiness (Lincoln Center), Under Siege (Mark Taper Forum, Los Angeles), A Rich Full Life (Los Angeles Theatre Center), These Men (Magic Theatre, San Francisco, Bush Theatre, London, Teatro Argot, Rome), Elaine's Daughter (Actors Theatre of Louisville, Philadelphia Theatre Company), The Old Lady's Guide To Survival (Actors Theatre of Louisville, Pittsburgh Public Theater, Lambs Club Theater, New York, Lyric Theatre, Belfast, Teatro Rafael Solana, Mexico City), A Twilight Romance (Falcon Theatre, Los Angeles). His book, THE AUDIENCE & THE PLAYWRIGHT (Applause Theatre & Cinema Books), appeared in July 2003. His plays are published by Dramatic Publishing. He has written extensively for television, film and the stage. His short documentary, "Why Man Creates," won a number of international prizes including an Academy Award for best short subject.

Performances of GREEK HOLIDAY are on Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday at 7:00pm, Friday & Saturday at 8:00pm, Saturday & Sunday at 2:00pm, March 6-April 5, 2009.

Tickets are $40 and can be ordered by calling SmartTix at 212.868.4444. Special preview tickets are $10, must be bought prior to March 6th and are valid only for preview performances March 6-March 17. Not valid for the benefit performance, March 11.
