The Signature Theatre (Paige Evans, Artistic Director; James Houghton, Founder) production of Edward Albee's At Home at the Zoo: Homelife & The Zoo Story has been extended one week, the company announced today. The production, which opens on February 21, will now run through March 18, 2018.
Edward Albee's At Home at the Zoo: Homelife & The Zoo Story is the first major NYC production of a play by Signature Legacy Playwright and three-time Pulitzer Prize-winner Edward Albee since his death in 2016. Performances began on Tuesday, January 30 on The Irene Diamond Stage at The Pershing Square Signature Center (480 West 42nd Street between 9thand 10th Avenues).
This new production of Edward Albee's At Home at the Zoo is directed by Drama Desk Award-winner Lila Neugebauer (Signature Plays, The Antipodes), and features two-time Tony Award-winner Katie Finneran (Noises Off, Promises, Promises), Tony Award-winner Robert Sean Leonard (The Invention of Love, "House"), Emmy Award-nominee Paul Sparks ("House of Cards," "Boardwalk Empire"). In act one, Homelife, we see Peter and his wife Ann in their Upper East Side apartment; in the second act, the classic The Zoo Story, Peter is forever altered by an oddly persistent stranger in Central Park. With jolts of brutality and Albee's signature dark humor, this seminal play explores both the love and the cruelty that we inflict on each other every day.
The creative team includes Andrew Lieberman (Scenic Design), Kaye Voyce (Costume Design), Japhy Weideman (Lighting Design), Bray Poor (Sound Design), UnkleDave's Fight House (Fight Direction). David Lurie-Perret is the Production Stage Manager. Casting by Caparelliotis Casting.
