AN ERROR OF THE MOON Opens 8/30 At The Beckett

AN ERROR OF THE MOON, a speculation of jealousy, madness and the brothers Booth, began Off-Broadway performances August 13th at The Beckett Theatre at Theatre Row, 410 West 42nd Street. The new play by Luigi Creatore officially opened on Monday, August 30th for a limited engagement through October 10th. Under the direction of Kim Weild, the cast of AN ERROR OF THE MOON features Margaret Copeland, Erik Heger, Andrew Veenstra, and BrIan Wallace.

AN ERROR OF THE MOON is a fictional portrait of the brothers Edwin and John Wilkes Booth, the rock star actors of their day. Edwin tells his tale of a man consumed by jealousy, of bitter sibling rivalry, and the mad obsession that sparked the assassination of Abraham Lincoln.

Margaret Copeland performed her one woman show My Fake IDs around the country and Off-Broadway at the Lamb's Theatre. She also performs stand up comedy in clubs throughout New York City. Erik Heger appeared Off-Broadway in MTC's Based on a Totally True Story and his films include Upside Out and A Perfect Match. Andrew Veenstra has numerous regional credits including Romeo and Juliet at Pioneer Theatre Co. and A Christmas Carol at GeVa Theatre. BrIan Wallace appeared in the Obie-winning The Good Negro at the Public and The Germans in Paris with Anjelica Torn at the Verse Theater.

Playwright Luigi Creatore has enjoyed an extensive career as a record producer along with partner Hugo Peretti. The team of Hugo and Luigi chalked up dozens of gold records with such artists as Sarah Vaughan, Jimmie Rodgers, Perry Como, Sam Cooke, Della Reese, etc. As a songwriter with partners Hugo Peretti and George David Weiss, he wrote a number of hit songs, of which two megahits were "Can't Help Falling in Love" for Elvis Presley and "The Lion Sleeps Tonight." In 1968, the team was represented on Broadway with Maggie Flynn starring Shirley Jones and Jack Cassidy, and Off-Broadway with Smile, Smile, Smile. Since retiring to Florida, Luigi has also been represented Off-Broadway with the play Flamingo Court.

Director Kim Weild most recently directed Off-Broadway's Fêtes de la Nuit (2010 Drama Desk nomination). She has worked extensively as Associate Director to Michael Blakemore, including on the Broadway revival of Blithe Spirit starring Angela Lansbury, Deuce starring Angela Lansbury and Marian Seldes, and Is He Dead? She has also associate directed for Tina Landau on Wig Out! at The Vineyard and Charles Mee's Iphigenia 2.0 at Signature Theatre. Kim is the recipient of a Kennedy Center Directing Fellowship, Shubert Fellow, 2006 Williamstown Theatre Festival Foeller Fellow, and is a Women's Project alumna.

Scenic design for AN ERROR OF THE MOON is by Steven Capone, with costume design by Alixandra Englund, lighting design by Charles Foster, and sound design by Christian Frederickson. Fight direction is by Rick Sordelet. AN ERROR OF THE MOON is being presented Off-Broadway by Theater 21 and CRC Productions.

The playing schedule for AN ERROR OF THE MOON will be Tuesdays at 7 pm, Wednesdays through Fridays at 8 pm, Saturdays at 2 pm & 8 pm, and Sundays at 3 pm.
