Against Her Better Judgment, an imaginative staging of Dorothy Parker's short stories and poems, will close on February 14 at the Drilling Company Theatre on West 78th Street.
Directed by Shannon MacMillan, Against Her Better Judgment features dynamic performances from an ensemble cast including Emily Asbury, Lee Chrisman, Meg Flaherty, Kristen Gehling, Levi Morger and Winston Osgood. Lighting and sound designed by Michael Lounsbery and costumes by Emily Dorwart.Dorothy Parker (1893-1967) was a well-known American writer, theatre critic and poet, best known for her quick wit and verbal prowess. Parker wrote for such publications as Vanity Fair and The New Yorker, was a founding member of the Algonquin Round Table, and received two Academy Award Nominations for her screenwriting work.A biting collage of couples and quips, Against Her Better Judgment lays bare a shameless self-portrait of the modern woman in love.
