Friends Always Creating Theatre, a not-for-profit Theatre Company founded by Jack Dyville and David Gillam Fuller announce the transfer of Mr. Dyville & John Stutte's Children's musical A MERMAID'S TALE to the TRIAD THEATRE, 158 W. 72md Street, OPENING SEPTEMBER 15, 2012 for an Open-End Run, playing Saturdays @ 3:00pm.

The production was originally commissioned by the James Memorial Preservation Society of Williston North Dakota for a world premiere in July 2011 as part of the Library's 100th Anniversary.   It was then scheduled by FACT for its Family Series last March produced at The Great Room in Brooklyn – that success led to yet another re-incarnation with a new cast at Secret Theatre in Queens NY.  FACT assembled the same Great Cast – reviewed as 'full of energy & talent' to bring the show to The Triad.

A MERMAID'S TALE is adapted from the L. Frank Baum novel, "The Sea Fairies" penned the year following his success with "The Wizard of Oz".  It is set on a School Auditorium stage where the students of Mr. Cutler gather to give their book reports on their favorite character from the Baum novel. The students decide to make these reports more magical, more alive... they decide to turn the simple reports into a MUSICAL like on the ever-popular TV series, "GLEE"!!!

The lead characters of Trot (VICKI OCEGUERA – "Honestly Abe") and her Grandfather (Marc Raco) take an undersea adventure with the Mermaids.   Reluctant at first, because they have always heard "no one ever saw a Mermaid and lived to tell the tale!"  They experience the "Mermaid Magic" .  They meet in person the hilarious King Anko, (Debra Toscano) the villainous Zog (Carl Hsu), his slightly zany assistant Sacho (KYLE James Johnson), an underwater Goldsmith (MS. TOSCANO) who saves the day with her street-wise, rap-style delivery, three Mermaid Princesses ,the Optimist (Ashley Aran), the Pessimist  (Kacey Cardin) & the Botanist (Paige Mitchell) and the beautiful Queen Aquarine (Kimberly Dinaro).   Other actors include standby/understudies: Kimberly Cuellar,    W. Robert Evans, Meg MC Whorter, Eric Pagan  The show has lots of audience participation for the kids! Lots of FUN for everyone. Catchy Songs!! Beauty. Excitement. Magic.

Directed & staged by Mr. Dyville,  Assistant Director Vicki Oceguera, Musical Direction by Heather Edwards, Sets/Props by Rodrigo Bolanos.  Jack Dyville has been called a 'Jack-of-All-Theatrical-Trades' and has been in the professional theatre for 44 years holding a B.A. in Theatre & Journalism from Texas Wesleyan University and an MFA in Directing from Texas Christian University with additional masters' credits from United States International University of San Diego. Mr. Dyville began as a dancer and his first job in NYC was in the Ballet Corps at the famed Radio City Music Hall followed by National tours and Broadway and Off-Broadway productions; "Hello Dolly", "Cabaret", "West Side Story". "Light Lively & Yiddish", "Yoshe Kalb", "DuBarry Was A Lady" and "Movie Buff".

With a love for writing, he began working as a playwright in 1979  and soon found his first youth musical, "A Country Christmas Carol" published with I.E. Clark. He is also represented with the I. E. Clark catalogue for Dramatic Publishing with "Those Magical Red Sneaks", "Barabbas: Out of Darkness" and "Gulliver's Travels: In the Land of Lilliput" Now he has more than 16 selected plays published and serves not only as Producer/Artistic Director for FACT but is one of the five resident playwrights.
