Young Norwegian violinist Vilde Frang has conquered the world with her virtuosity and musical expression. Now she takes on the Main House together with the Arcangelo chamber ensemble.
Frang began her career as a violinist at an early age: at ten she debuted as a soloist with the Norwegian Radio Orchestra, and two years later she appeared with the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra on the invitation of Mariss Jansons himself. After studying in Norway and Germany, in a short time she has established herself as one of the most exciting and distinguished among a new generation of soloists.
"The music sparkles like premium champagne," wrote Dagsavisen's critic of Frang's recording of the Mozart violin concerti in A and B flat major with Arcangelo in February 2015. "Her intonation is perfect, her phrasing so natural I am almost lost for words."
The violinist now brings both concerti by the teenage Mozart to the Oslo Opera House, where – as on the recording – she shares the stage with Arcangelo, which has established itself as one of the leading music ensembles in the UK since it was founded in 2010. The ensemble includes both historical and modern strings, ably led by founder and artistic director Jonathan Cohen.
