Snowflakes on tiptoes, Tchaikovsky’s trill tones and the story of Clara’s Christmas: The Nutcracker is a Christmas tradition for young and old alike. This year we give you an exciting new retelling of E.T.A. Hoffman’s incredible story to Tchaikovsky’s fantastic music.
We are in Kristiania in 1906, where diplomat Stahlbaum has invited guests to join his family for a Christmas party. Among them are families from other countries and Clara’s strange uncle Drosselmeyer. There are games, gifts, sweets – and not least, a captivating nutcracker doll. During the party Clara falls asleep, and magical things start to happen.
The Nutcracker is the perfect Christmas story where Clara falls in love and meets snowflakes, flowers, sugar canes, soldiers and mice. We almost cannot wait for you to see our new production of The Nutcracker, created by The Norwegian National Ballet’s dancer and choreographer Kaloyan Boyadjiev, and Jon Bausor, who created the costumes and stage sets for the hugely successful ballets Carmen and The Firebird.
The performance features dancers from both The Norwegian National Ballet and the Norwegian National Ballet School, and the Norwegian National Opera Orchestra performs Tchaikovsky’s famous music. Our magnificent Christmas story for the whole family!
