Kirsten Flagstad was already in his lifetime hailed as "the century's voice," and soprano Isa Katharina Gericke and pianist Bengt Forsberg highlights new aspects of her romance interpreter of songs that she performed throughout his ministry. Alongside its many major opera roles around the world had in fact Kirsten Flagstad a rich and remarkable romance repertoire, with important songs that are about to be lost today. Many composers were inspired by Flagstad, and throughout his career had she songs by, among others Arne Dørumsgaard, Sverre Jordan, Lie and Hjalmar Borgstrøm from Norway repertoire. The short but intense friendship with the Swedish composer Knut Håkanson inspired a very special song treasure that she took care of all her life.
Isa Katharina Gericke and Bengt Forsberg have found each other in this repertoire. Gericke, a versatile soprano in concert, chamber music and opera, as with a particular fondness for lieder and romances, has made his mark with his concert performances of singing women Eva Nansen, Jenny Lind and Kirsten Flagstad.
Forsberg is considered among Scandinavia's leading chamber musicians and accompanists, and is known for his longtime collaboration with mezzo-soprano Anne Sofie von Otter.
