Oslo World Music Festival 2016 ends with a grand tribute to the leading yoiker and Sápmis yoiks queen, Inga Juuso. The stage is set for the most star focus on Sami music in the festival's history, when our leading Sami artists gather at the main stage for the very first time.
The festival's theme is forbidden songs. Then we can not forget the joik, which is still banned in many Norwegian and Sami denominations. An artist who was never afraid to convey their Sami culture, Inga Juuso. She was an important source of inspiration for Mari Boine, and many other artists at home and abroad. She was honored with a grand memorial concert in Kautokeino shortly after his death in 2014.
Remind The melody is a beautiful, groovy and playful gala performance, Sami music in many forms and stroke - with room for both joy, sadness and contemplation.
Oslo World Music Festival has over 23 years distinguished itself as one of Europe's leading world music festivals. From 1 to 6 November 2016 over 300 artists from all continents play at different stages in downtown Oslo.
