On Your Toes at Den Norske Opera & Ballett

The On Your Toes-project gives students who show exceptional commitment, talent and enthusiasm for modern dance, the opportunity to develop their skills and creative voice over a longer period of time. Twice a year, around twenty students are selected via creative workshops offered to over 200 young people in schools in Oslo and Akershus. The selected students are then invited to train two to three days a week at the Oslo Opera House.

The training varies between classes on technique, creativity and repertoire, and takes place in the Oslo Opera House, where participants work with highly qualified teachers and choreographers. The project culminates in a performance in the Second House at the Oslo Opera House. The performance also takes place in Warsaw's Teatr Wielki on 17 November.

Thanks to funding from the EEA, the Norwegian Opera & Ballet has now joined with the Teatr Wielki Opera House in Warsaw to offer joint workshops for young people in the summer 2014. The project culminates in a dance performance in both Warsaw and Oslo. These shows are free.
