Mesteraften 2012 offers three monumental works from the world of dance.
"A choreographic jewel", "aesthetic”, and "brilliant" are recurring terms used in descriptions of George Balanchine’s Symphony in C. Frequently en pointe and always with long lines and pure, beautiful dance.
Ji?í Kylián's 27'52" is raw, energetic and passionate, with electronic music composed by Dirk Haubrich. After the Norwegian premiere in 2008, when this was one of several pieces in the production Worlds Beyond, the Norwegian newspaper Dagbladet described 27'52" as a battlefield and the performance as a triumph.
Glen Tetley’s The Rite of Spring is a test of endurance, but above all powerful and potent dance to Stravinsky's great work. It promises to be a strong finale to the evening with dance masters at the Oslo Opera House.
