Folk music and dance at the Opera: Meisterkonsert 2014 at Den Norske Opera & Ballett

Welcome to a festive evening of folk music and dance. Every year, thousands of practitioners from across the country meet to compete in traditional folk music and dance at the Landskappleiken and Landsfestival festivals. Following intense summer days of razor-sharp competition, winners are announced in acting, dance and folk singing.

In November, the champions will gather for a magnificent performance at the Opera House. The concert is a unique opportunity to experience lively halling dance, seductive Hardanger fiddle, a fiddle ensemble, top folk singers, our oldest folk instruments such as the Norwegian zither and bukkehorn, and more recent instruments such as the accordion. The concert is a collaboration between the Norwegian National Opera & Ballet and FolkOrg – Organisation for folk music and folk dance. This is Norwegian folk music and folk dance at its best!
