Das Rheingold at Den Norske Opera & Ballett

This summer, LidalNorth International Opera Workshop presents two operas, Massenet's Cendrillon and Wagner's Das Rheingold, as two separate performances.

Cendrillon tells the well-loved story of Cinderella with charm, humour and musical refinement. Massenet's opera has never before been produced in Norway. Das Rheingold represents the first part of Wagner's four-part musical drama, Der Ring des Nibelungen. Legendary roles, mythical tableaux and challenging music will make this an epic operatic adventure.

The workshop is led by coach and pianist John Lidal. The roles will be interpreted by soloists who are on the threshold of their professional careers, as well as by established artists. The works are presented with simple scenic effects and a piano accompaniment.
