Daniil Trifonov has been described by critics as a phenomenon with almost superhuman piano skills. The 25-year-old pianist from Novgorod will now perform a solo concert at the Oslo Opera House.
Legendary pianist Martha Argerich has said that he has “everything and more besides,” and that she has never heard anything like him. British journalist Norman Lebrecht has described Trifonov as “a pianist for the rest of our lives,” and his playing as “from another planet.” With his distinctive touch, which can be soft and demonic in equal measure, Trifonov is bringing the classical music world to its knees. At his solo concert, Trifonov will perform some of Robert Schumann’s most well-known works for piano, as well as pieces by Dmitri Shostakovich and Igor Stravinsky.
Daniil Trifonov performed his first concert at just eight years old, and had already won prizes at several international competitions by the time he was 17. As a 20-year-old he rose to fame through some of the world’’ s most prestigious music competitions – the Arthur Rubinstein competition and Tchaikovsky competition in Moscow – which resulted in him being invited to perform extensively around the world. He has also released a number of critically-acclaimed recordings.
