Afternoon Concert: Strauss and Halvorsen at Den Norske Opera & Ballett

In this series of chamber music concerts, the audience will experience the orchestra in a different format. The orchestra will perform in a smaller group, enabling the audience to get closer to the musicians. The afternoon concerts are the Norwegian National Opera Orchestra's own concerts, where the musicians perform their personal musical favourites.

In October we will celebrate the 150th anniversary of the birth of two well-known and beloved composers; Richard Strauss and Johan Halvorsen. The programme will feature one of Halvorsen's most performed chamber music works: Passacaglia for violin and viola.

The Norwegian National Opera, and perhaps the Norwegian National Opera Orchestra in particular, have garnered several of their greatest triumphs with Strauss' works. This concert shows the scope of the composer's vast output, from expansive flute fanfares to his perhaps most famous song, «Morgen!».
