Ad undas – Solaris corrected is a newly written opera based on Øyvind Rimbereid’s lyric poem from 2004, in which he largely invents his own hybrid language. The poem has been included in a list of the 25 most important Norwegian literary works. The opera depicts a dystopian future in which the oil wells have dried up, the oil rigs have long since sunk and the towns and cities are in decay. We are in Stavgersand in the year 2480. A world in which all that matters is survival. The plan is to establish a ‘safe’ new world on the seabed, a “mirrorvorld” sheltered from contamination and other dangers on land. But how are people to live there? And what will become of those who remain?
The opera is a guest production by the Academy of Opera at the Oslo National Academy of the Arts
