8: Frikar meets Chinese kung fu monks at Den Norske Opera & Ballett

Choreographer Hallgrim Hansegård from Frikar Dance Company took four of his best Halling folk dancers with him to the Wudang Mountains in China, where kung fu master Chen Shiyu runs a martial arts school for his disciples. The kung fu monks do not speak English and the Frikar dancers do not speak Chinese. Together they have created a story under very basic conditions and without an interpreter. 8 is a physically stunning performance drawing on two strong traditions.
