Wolf Trap Announces First Round of Shows for Summer 2011

Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts announces its first round of summer 2011 shows, featuring four dance performances including two new commissions, a variety of award-winning musicals, and the return of Wolf Trap favorite Garrison Keillor and the much loved A Prairie Home Companion, among many others. In an effort to provide the greatest level of convenience and flexibility for patrons, Wolf Trap is pleased to once again announce summer shows throughout the booking season through four distinct rollouts and subsequent on-sales. This allows Wolf Trap members the opportunity to purchase premium in-house and lawn seats severAl Weeks in advance of the general public on-sale date. To highlight the benefits of membership in conjunction with this first release, Wolf Trap has launched a Facebook contest offering entrants a chance to win two "friend level" memberships for the 2011 summer season.

Dancing Under the Stars
The first installment of shows includes performances by four internationally renowned dance companies; Aspen Santa Fe Ballet; Ronald K. Brown's Evidence, A Dance Company; Ballet West; and Doug Varone and Dancers, featuring two Wolf Trap commissioned pieces, a world premiere and two D.C. premieres.

The Aspen Santa Fe Ballet returns to the Filene Center in 2011 to celebrate its 15th anniversary with a Wolf Trap commission and world premiere of a new work by esteemed choreographer Jorma Elo. Ronald K. Brown's Evidence, A Dance Company will perform the D.C. premiere of On Earth Together, co-commissioned by Wolf Trap, and choreographed by Brown to the music of Stevie Wonder. Ballet West will grace the stage of the Filene Center for the first time since 1992 with the D.C. premiere of Susan Shields' Grand Synthesis (created in 2008). Shields grew up in the Vienna area and attended Wolf Trap Elementary School. She received her first major commission from Wolf Trap in 2004. The Ballet West program also includes Balanchine's Four Temperaments and Kylian's Sinfonietta.

Lawn tickets for 2011 dance performances will be available for just $4. A 20% discount on in-house seats will be provided when tickets are purchased for all four dance performances.

Musicals for the Whole Family
Families will have numerous opportunities to relish the joys of musical theatre at Wolf Trap during the 2011 summer season with the return of classic favorites such as Guys and Dolls, Cathy Rigby is Peter Pan, Gilbert and Sullivan's H.M.S. Pinafore and MAMMA MIA!


Wolf Trap Favorites
As has been the tradition at Wolf Trap, the summer season will open with two nights of A Prairie Home Companion with Garrison Keillor. Other fan favorites returning to The Filene Center include the profoundly accurate and wildly popular RAIN - A Tribute to the Beatles; America's band The Beach Boys; classic video game visuals set to the original scores with PLAY! A Video Game Symphony; the 22nd Annual Louisiana Swamp Romp; and The Ultimate Doo-Wop Show, featuring a multitude of starring acts.

Aligned to its mission to present accessible and affordable arts experiences to the broadest possible audience, Wolf Trap offers a range of ticket prices, permits patrons to bring their own food and beverages to the Park, and provides public transportation and free parking for all shows at Wolf Trap's Filene Center.
