GRAMMY Award-winning folk-rockers Train bring their distinctive upbeat hits to Wolf Trap for their highly-anticipated return. Known for the massive success of hits like "Meet Virginia," "Drops of Jupiter," and most recently, "Hey, Soul Sister," this group is consistently turning out fresh hits that are true to their alternative-rock style. Formed in San Francisco, Train started off playing the Bay-area coffeehouse circuit. Their newest album, Save Me, San Francisco, takes them back to their California roots with upbeat, guitar driven songs perfect for the summer. The single from the album, "Hey, Soul Sister" has met massive acclaim and is currently charting on 10 Billboard charts. Natalie Maines of the Dixie Chicks calls "Hey, Soul Sister," "one of those songs you hate that you didn't write."

Needtobreathe
Alt-country rockers Needtobreathe arrive at Wolf Trap for the first time in support of Train. Formed in 1999 by brothers Bear and Bo Rinehart, Needtobreathe is a hometown group of friends. With a piano-and guitar-driven sound often compared to commercially successful groups Coldplay and the Fray, Needtobreathe sees a bright future ahead. Their 2009 album release, The Outsiders, has been well received by both Christian and secular audiences and is in its 48th week on the Christian Albums chart, with a peak at the No. 2 position.

Coming to Wolf Trap for the first time are the furious, fast-paced finger pickings of Rodrigo y Gabriela. Known for their fusion of flamenco-style guitar with heavy metal and rock, Rodrigo y Gabriela have spent the past four years cultivating a legion of devoted fans. Their 2009 album 11:11 has met with massive success and is currently in its 46th week on the World Albums chart, with a peak at No. 1. Each track on this album pays homage to the musical greats who have lent inspiration to the duo, from Jimi Hendrix and Carlos Santana to Pink Floyd. Fans are loyal to the pair for their genuine quality of musicianship; their albums are recorded live in-studio with very little overdubs. All Music Guide describes 11:11 as, "in-your-face compelling and impossible to ignore."

Xavier Rudd
Debuting alongside Rodrigo y Gabriela is independent Australian multi-instrumentalist Xavier Rudd. Combining his love of surfing with love of roots music, Rudd creates a unique sound all his own that continuously brings him success. With music centered around lap steel guitars, Australian didgeridoos, drums, harmonicas, bells, banjos, and an assortment of other instruments, Rudd mixes conventional and modern musical styles. Rudd is a traditionalist, having accumulated his many devoted fans through word of mouth, rather than record label hype. His most recent album, Koonyum Sum has met critical acclaim and hit the No. 1 position on both the Folk Albums and Heatseeker charts.

With a sophisticated sound inspired by Ella Fitzgerald and Sarah Vaughan, soulstress Anita Baker brings her hybrid of R&B, gospel, and pop music to the Wolf Trap stage. With eight GRAMMYs to her name, Baker continually turns out commercially viable hits. Her most recent album, My Everything, hit the No. 1 position on the R&B/Hip Hop chart, lasting for 28 straight weeks. Devoted fans anxiously await her new album, rumored to be released this fall.

Tony Bennett

Tony Bennett returns to Wolf Trap for his semi-annual performance of time-honored American classics on the Filene Center stage. Known for Top 10 hits "Because of You," "Cold, Cold Heart," and "I Left My Heart in San Francisco," Bennett has been recording successful hits since the 1950s. In the '90s, Bennett revitalized his image through performances on Letterman, Conan O'Brian, and MTV. The album MTV Unplugged: Tony Bennett, aimed to connect youth with his timeless classics, and succeeded in grand fashion. A New York Times critic, following the release of the album exclaimed, "Tony Bennett has not just bridged the generation gap, he has demolished it." Bennett has released eight albums since 2000. His most recent original album, Duets: An American Classic spent 44 weeks on the Billboard 200 chart and resulted in the singer's 14th GRAMMY Award.

The Ultimate Doo-Wop Show

Get ready for the sock hop, the Ultimate Doo-Wop Show performs at Wolf Trap for the second time. This showcase of veteran Doo-Wop artists was sparked by the popularity of recent PBS-TV specials 50 Years of Doo-Wop. Ten artists, whose cumulative album sales exceed $100 million, will light up the stage of the Filene Center. This stellar "Ultimate Doo-Wop" lineup consists of: Charlie Thomas, former lead singer of The Drifters, famous for songs like "This Magic Moment;" Shirley Alston-Reeves, original lead singer of the Shirelles; The Flamingos featuring Terry Johnson; Jay Siegel & The Tokens with their special guest, Jay Traynor, famous for songs like "The Lion Sleeps Tonight;" Eugene Pitt & The Jive Five; Cathy Jean & The Roommates; The Vogues featuring Bill Burkette & Hugh Geyer, famous for songs like "You're the One;" The Jarmels; Daddy G, famous for songs like "A Quarter to Three;" and the Rama Lama Big Band. This night of feel-good classics is designed to appeal to audiences of all ages and backgrounds, keeping true to Wolf Trap's mission of diversity in entertainment.

Donna Summer

"Disco Queen" Donna Summer reigns over Wolf Trap for an evening of energetic pop hits. With an astounding career that has spanned more than three decades and garnered five GRAMMY awards, Summer is a role model for hard-working women everywhere. Summer achieved worldwide success for her and '70s and '80s dance party hits "Love to Love You Baby," "Hostage," and "She Works Hard for the Money." Summer's 2008 album, Crayons, her first studio release since 1991's Mistaken Identity, was a critical and popular success. Three singles from the album reached No. 1 on Billboard's dance chart. As she continues to tour the globe with excitement and energy, it's clear this queen's reign extends beyond the disco to today's dance floor as well.
