Grounded by George Brant and directed by Laley Lippard will be Virginia Stage Company's fifth production of Season 37 and the final production shown in the Wells Theatre before it undergoes a $4 million renovation this spring.

Synopsis: An elite fighter pilot trades the cockpit for a cradle when an unexpected pregnancy forces her from the sky. Soon, she longs to return to her aerial battlefield, but is instead assigned to pilot drones from a windowless trailer in the Nevada desert. Each day she deploys to hunt terrorists and each night returns to raise a family. The boundary between her drone screen and domestic life begin to blur as the urgency of tracking an eminent target and the needs of a family fracture her loyalty.

In addition, Virginia Stage Company will be releasing in installments in the next INSDIE VSC Video Series in order to give Hampton Roads a deeper understanding of how their shows are created here in Norfolk. The series will focus on the relationship and collaboration between the play's sole actress and the director. Keep an eye out on their website and social media accounts to watch as they share with our community an inside look at all that goes into a VSC production.

Grounded begins with three discounted preview performances, March 1-3, and officially opens on March 4. After 21 performances, the production will conclude on March 20. Tickets for each show start as low as $19, a radically different price than in seasons past. The best seats in the Theatre are available for $55 with discounts for groups, students, and the military.
