This "eye-opening, life-affirming, unmissable" (TIME Magazine) Tony Award-winning play by Simon Stephens comes to Virginia Rep's November Theatre this Fall. The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time opens Friday, September 21st, and runs through Sunday, October 14th, with two preview performances on Wednesday, September 19th and Thursday, September 20th. It is based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel by Mark Haddon.

Fifteen-year-old Christopher has an extraordinary brain; he is exceptionally intelligent but ill-equipped to interpret everyday life. When he's suspected of killing the neighbor's dog, he sets out to identify the true culprit, which leads to an earth-shattering discovery and a journey that will change his life forever.

Virginia Rep is delighted to welcome Michael Manocchio in the role of Christopher. Manocchio is brand new to Richmond, having spent most of his career in Chicago. Regional credits include three seasons at the Hilberry Repertory Theatre, as well as work at the Moscow Art Theatre School (The Seagull), the Utah Shakespeare Festival (Shakespeare in Love, Romeo and Juliet, As You Like It) and NYC's Titan Theatre Company (Much Ado About Nothing). Michael is a graduate of Elmhurst College, holds an MFA in acting from Wayne State University, and has trained extensively with Siti Company and the Moscow Art Theatre.

Emelie Faith Thompson, a Washington, DC based actor, joins the company as Siobhan. A Virginia native, she holds a BFA in Musical Theatre from Shenandoah Conservatory, and is a recipient of the Roger Sturtevant EMC Musical Theatre Award. She has appeared in plays and musicals Off-Broadway, in national tours, and in regional theatres across the country. Virginia credits include Barter Theatre, Heritage Theatre Festival, and Wayside Theatre; other regional work includes Geva Theatre Center, Oregon Cabaret Theatre, Cape Fear Regional Theatre, and Festival 56.

Veterans to the Virginia Rep stage, Laine Satterfield and Joe Pabst join the company as Christopher's parents, Judy and Ed Boone. Satterfield most recently directed Virginia Rep's production of Airline Highway, and was last seen on a Virginia Rep stage in To Kill A Mockingbird and Cadence's co-production of Sight Unseen. Pabst was recently seen in Cadence/Virginia Rep's co-production of Appropriate, as well as Violet and Saturday, Sunday, Monday.

Artistic Director Nathaniel Shaw will direct the first show of Virginia Rep's 2018/19 season, following the success of last season's summer smash hit, West Side Story, and World Premiere production of River Ditty, co-produced in partnership with Tony and Olivier Award-winning Glass Half Full Productions. Shaw also directed Virginia Rep's 2017 production of In the Heights, which received the Richmond Theatre Critics Circle Award for both Best Musical and Best Direction of a Musical.

Virginia Rep is thrilled to welcome Projection Designer Daniel Brodie, whose Broadway credits include Motown: The Musical and Disney's Aladdin. Brodie graduated with a degree in theatre and media design from the Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts at Arizona State University. He designed the projections for Christopher Wheeldon's The Winter's Tale (Royal Ballet) and Cinderella (Dutch National Ballet and San Francisco Ballet) and has worked regularly with puppeteer Basil Twist. He has also created large-scale video designs for Kanye West, Mariah Carey, and for the Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival. Brodie's awards include the United States Institute of Theatre Technology's Rising Star Award (2011). He has also worked as a guest lecturer at Yale University and New York University.

Scenic Designer Tennessee Dixon's work was last seen at Virginia Rep as Projection Designer for The End of War. Costume Design is by Virginia Rep Costume Director Sue Griffin (River Ditty, Mary Poppins, Crimes of the Heart), and Lighting Design is by Virginia Rep Master Electrician BJ Wilkinson (West Side Story, River Ditty, Mary Poppins). Julian Evans (The End of War) returns to Virginia Rep as Sound Designer.
