Richmond CenterStage has announced that Tony DeSare will be the second performer of the 2012-13 U.S. Trust Life is a Cabaret! Series: A Celebration of the Great American Song Book.
The singer, pianist and songwriter released his third CD, Radio Show, by Telarc Records earlier this year and was also named a “Rising Star” Male Vocalist in the 2010 Downbeat Critics Poll. Tony has won critical and audience acclaim for his performances throughout the U.S. as well as Australia, Japan and Hong Kong.
CenterStage Executive Director Richard M. Parison, Jr. said, “We are so glad to present Tony in his Richmond CenterStage debut. As both an acclaimed pianist and vocalist, Tony will bring shades of Frank Sinatra to our Cabaret. We are thrilled to welcome him!”
Tony’s noted vocal versatility thrills audiences from major jazz rooms like Birdland and the Blue Note to posh nightclubs like the Café Carlyle and Feinstein’s at the Regency. Tony performs with such infectious joy, wry playfulness, and robust musicality – you will see how he has earned his reputation as one of country’s hottest young singer/pianists.
The New York Times recently said that “Tony DeSare belongs to a group of neo-traditional upstarts stretching from Harry Connick, Jr, to Michael Bublé.” He was also described as “two parts Frank Sinatra and one part Billy Joel.”
This season will also include performances from cabaret legend Amanda McBroom, and pop culture icon Molly Ringwald. DeSare will be performing at CenterStage’s Rhythm Hall November 16 and 17 at 7 p.m., with a 2 p.m. Sunday matinee on November 18. Ticket prices for the U.S. Trust Life is a Cabaret! Series are:
