TheatreLAB and Spin, Spit, & Swear will present Hedwig and the Angry Inch, by John Cameron Mitchell and Stephen Trask, next month as the first show in TheatreLAB's second full season. Hedwig and the Angry Inch will be directed by Maggie Roop with musical direction by Anthony Smith, and will be performed at TheatreLAB's new venue, The Basement (300 East Broad Street), from October 24th- November 15th.

This groundbreaking rock musical tells the story of "internationally ignored song stylist" Hedwig Schmidt, a fourth-wall smashing East German rock 'n' roll goddess who also happens to be the victim of a botched sex-change operation, which has left her with just "an angry inch." This outrageous and unexpectedly hilarious story is dazzlingly performed by Hedwig and her hard-rocking band "The Angry Inch" as she sings songs and shares stories of her search for "The Origin of Love" and her other half. It's a rocking ride, funny, touching and ultimately inspiring to anyone who has felt that life gave them an inch when they deserved a mile. The recent Broadway production starring Neil Patrick Harris won four Tony Awards including Best Revival of a Musical. This Richmond production will be the first remount since the hugely successful Broadway production.

The cast features Matt Shofner as Hedwig Schmidt and Bianca Bryan as Yitzhak. "The Angry Inch" will feature Starlet Knight, Forrest Link, Nancy Millhouse, and Joe Lubman on Drums. The production will feature costume design by Emily Atkins, makeup and wig design by Paul Major, lighting design by Michael Jarett, sound design by Joey Luck, set design and construction by Jamie Nicholas, and animation design by Deanna Hamad, under the stage management of Chelsea Burke with assistant stage management and makeup by Maggie Bavolack.

Hedwig and the Angry Inch will be presented at The Basement, 300 East Broad Street, in downtown Richmond from October 24th to November 15th. For a full performance schedule, visit http://www.theatrelabrva.com.
