Theater at Lime Kiln today announced the winner of their diamond raffle, a yearly event associated with the organization's casino night fundraiser. Former Lime Kiln Board member Anne McClung of Lexington was awarded the $2000 ½ carat diamond, donated by Hamric and Sheridan of 11 West Nelson Street.

Lime Kiln Executive Director Kim Renz saluted Hamric and Sheridan for their support over the years. "Groups like Lime Kiln exist because of community support, and without corporate gifts and sponsorships, rural communities can't do the kinds of things we do. So we say thanks to Robby Jones and Hamric and Sheridan, great Friends Of Lime Kiln."

Renz also announced the cast for The Fantasticks, which runs May 20 through 23. Director Jenna Worsham, soon to graduate from Washington and Lee with a degree in theatre, and Music Director Josh Harvey have chosen four Rockbridge County residents and four W&L students to perform in this 50th Anniversary performance.

Larry Evans, featured vocalist with Rockbridge Choral Society, plays El Gallo. 2009 W&L graduate Matt Amling, who was the male lead in the Washington and Lee production of The Secret Garden, plays, coincidentally, Matt. W&L junior soprano Ellie Duvall plays Louisa. Local theatre professionals Dennis Devito and Rob Mish play the fathers, Hucklebee and Bellomy. Junior Johnny Coyle plays Henry, freshman Jesse Mozingo plays Mortimer, and junior Dave Curren plays The Mute.

Renz says this is the perfect show for the outdoor theatre, located just outside the Lexington City limits. "The Fantasticks is set outdoors, essentially on the ‘frontier' between two houses. There is a stone wall separating two teens from each other, erected by their fathers to guarantee they would want to be together. That is the setup for the action that unfolds."
