The 2011-12 season is comprised of four productions, beginning in September 2011, and closing in June 2012. This season, Firehouse has chosen an outstanding selection of plays and is thrilled to embark on several new partnerships. The Firehouse's celebrating its 19th year of high-quality, affordable theatre, and it's going to be an exciting journey! Taking off from a familiar Mississippi plantation, we'll head to New Jersey to poke some fun at homeland "insecurity," get detained at Newark Airport on our way to a heated confrontation in Beirut, stop at Ohio State University to hear a chilling mystery, and finally, settle in for a song somewhere along the Underground Railroad.

For nearly two decades, Firehouse has been presenting contemporary American theatre works to audiences, with an emphasis on plays not previously produced in the Richmond area. Firehouse productions are consistently receive critical acclaim; The Firehouse has twice been the recipient of the Richmond Theatre Critic's Circle award for Best Play, in 2008 and 2009. Most recently, in the August 2011 issue of Richmond Magazine, readers voted Firehouse as Richmond's "Best Theater". The Firehouse continues its dedication to the Richmond community with outreach programs to educational and arts organziations, our monthly Reader's Theatre offerings, adult acting classes, and our flagship program, the annual Festival of New American Plays.

Honing in on our private terrors both at home and abroad, Durang oddly relieves our fears in this black comedy, perfect for an era of yellow, orange, and red alerts.
