Washington's favorite wisecracking troupe, The Capitol Steps, will help residents start the year with a laugh (or many laughs) when they perform at McLean's Alden Theatre on Friday, Jan. 15, and Saturday, Jan. 16, at 8 p.m. Tickets are $45, $40 for McLean tax district residents. Friday evening's performance will be followed by a free wine and cheese reception for ticket holders sponsored by the Friends of the McLean Community Center.
The Capitol Steps began in 1981, when a group of Senate staffers set out to satirize the very institutions and individuals that employed them. Over the years, the troupe's performers have worked in a total of 18 congressional offices and represent 62 years of collective House and Senate staff experience. The Steps have recorded 29 albums, including their latest, "Barackin' Around the Christmas Tree" and "Obama Mia!" They've been featured on NBC, CBS, ABC and PBS, and can be heard four times a year on National Public Radio stations nationwide during their "Politics Takes a Holiday" radio specials. The Capitol Steps will extend their holiday jeers with such hits as "Rudolph the H1N1 Reindeer" and "Over the River and Through the Woods (at least that's what I told my staff)" and other favorite seasonal classics.Tickets are on sale now!
