Eight talented young tap dancers will take to the Alden Theatre stage in a rousing, joyous celebration of American youth culture when TAP Kids arrives for a single performance at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 24.
Since its debut at The Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center in 2002, Tap Kids has enjoyed tremendous success across the country and abroad, thrilling audiences of all ages with their incredible talent and fierce passion. In a series of musical vignettes, the show tells the story of a group of high-school kids facing challenges both mundane and momentous as they prepare for the big school dance, graduation and the end of their senior year. With an original score by Philip Stern and dazzling choreography by
Lisa Hopkins, Tap Kids takes the traditional dance form to new heights in an electrifying performance that is hip, contemporary and uplifting.
Tap Kids have twice traveled south of the border to Mexico, most recently to headline four Mexican cities at the Tamaulipas International Festival. Featured performers in a star-studded gala for the Queen of Holland at The Royale Theatre Carre in Amsterdam, the group returned to Europe in November 2009 for a three-week tour of the Netherlands. They made their National television debut on the star-studded
Jerry Lewis Muscular Dystrophy Association Telethon in September 2005.
