To commemorate the Washington DC premiere of Sweet Tea: Black Gay Men of the South and Gay Men's HIV Awareness Day, Signature Theatre is hosting a special post-show panel discussion tonight at 8:00pm. The discussion, "30 Years is Enuf," is presented through special arrangement with the Black Gay Men's Network, Black AIDS Institute, and Jane M. Saks. Single ticket prices - which includes the performance, post-show discussion and meet-and-greet/book-signing with author & star E. Patrick Johnson - are available at the Signature Box Office at a special discounted price of $35 by using the code word METRO.
Based on his award-winning and critically acclaimed book, E. Patrick Johnson stars in this exploration into the southern black gay community - a population rarely acknowledged in writings about the South. Sweet Tea is currently playing in Signature's intimate ARK Theatre through October 9, 2011.The "30 Years is Enuf" discussion will be moderated by a representative from the Black AIDS Institute. Panelists will include E. Patrick Johnson, Tim'm (artist, HIV/AIDS activist, and character illustrated in Sweet Tea), and Ron Simmons (Us Helping Us).
