ShenanArts will hold auditions for We Will Rock You on Sunday January 7th.

Audition Details:
Sunday, January 7th, 2 pm - 7 pm
Please arrive by 1:45 pm to fill out the necessary forms. Some individuals may be asked to stay the full time.
Please prepare a 1 minute cut of a rock, pop, or modern musical theatre song (nothing by Queen). Please bring your cued up music on a CD or mp3 device or sheet music to sing with the provided accompanist.
Everyone will learn a dance combination. Please wear something you can move well in.

About the show:
Featuring more than 20 hit Queen songs, We Will Rock You follows two revolutionaries as they try to save Rock in a dystopian world. The musical tells the story of a group of Bohemians who struggle to restore the free exchange of thought, fashion, and live music in a distant future where everyone dresses, thinks, and acts the same. Musical instruments and composers are forbidden, and rock music is all but unknown. Songs include "Another One Bites the Dust," "Bohemian Rhapsody," "Killer Queen," "Somebody to Love," "We Will Rock You," "We Are the Champions," and many more.

Character Descriptions:
*Performers of all ethnic backgrounds are encouraged to attend.*

Galileo Figaro
A young man, a rebel, and the central character. He is on a mission to accomplish something with his life and tries to find the right way to fulfill his dreams. He is a dreamer who is vulnerable, sensitive, tense, and restless. He is also headstrong and stubborn. Must be a dynamic actor and a strong mover, with an amazing high rock voice and a strong falsetto. His songs are in the range of Freddie Mercury, but some slight adjustments of keys and notes are possible as needed.

Vocal Range: High Rock Tenor with Falsetto

Scaramouche
A sarcastic, hard-bitten cynical girl and Galileo's love interest. She is deeply introverted and complex. She uses her self-deprecating wit to cover her sensitivity and vulnerability. An awkward loner, she is a goth, bitter, headstrong, and stubborn. However, she transforms and blossoms as her confidence grows. Must be a dynamic actor with great comedic skills, a strong singer, and a strong mover.

Killer Queen
The villain, she is an iconic figure. She is the ruler of the iPlanet, who is sexy, voluptuous, feisty, funny, powerful, commanding, and ruthless. She is the BOSS. Must be an amazing singer with a powerful and soulful rock belt and strong riffing abilities.

Khashoggi
Killer Queen's second-in-command, he is head of Globalsoft's police and carries out Killer Queen's dirty work. A smooth operator, he is ruthless and heartless. He's sophisticated, intelligent, sinister, cruel, and cold, but also charming. Must be a strong actor and singer with some movement abilities.

Age: mid 20's-50
Vocal Range: High Rock Baritenor

Buddy
Buddy is an aging ex-librarian, hippy, and fun-loving philosopher who has studied the sacred musical texts to the extent that even the Seven Seas of Rhye cannot entirely erase them from his mind. Must have strong comedic skills, a good rock voice, and some movement abilities.

Vocal Range: Light Rock Baritone

Oz
A Bohemian who is intent on discovering the secrets of live music, and who believes that someone will come who will show the Bohemians the way. In love with Brit. She is a true rock chick who is aggressive, street-wise, sexy, and tough. Must be an amazing singer and belter with a soulfulness to deliver a moving power-ballad in Act One. Strong singer/actor/mover.

Brit
A Bohemian who is intent on discovering the secrets of live music, and who believes that someone will come who will show the Bohemians the way. In love with Oz. He believes he is a kung-fu master, but has a heart of gold. He is sexy, lovable, and very cool with lots of energy. Full rock voice. Strong singer/actor/mover.

Teacher
A teacher at the GaGa school and a conformist. She is secretly a spy for Globalsoft, identifying any students who may eventually align themselves with the Rebel Bohemians. Will also play one of the Bohemians. Strong actor/singer/mover.

Vocal Range: Any

Bohemians
A group of rebels, determined to fight against Globalsoft and its downloadable music. They have taken the names of musical heroes from the past. Edgy, rock 'n roll types who are strong singer/actor/movers. May also fill into some ensemble roles as needed.

Vocal Range: All Ranges

Teen Queens
Five popular, ditzy, and mean GaGa girls who torment Scaramouche and sing back-up for "Somebody to Love." Will also be part of the Ensemble. Strong singer/actor/movers who are comfortable singing harmonies.

Gender: Female
Age: 15-mid 20's
Vocal Range: Sopranos/Altos (5 part harmony)

Ensemble
Plays a variety of characters including GaGa Kids, Yuppies, Cops, Doctors, and New Bohemians. Strong singer/actor/movers.
