The classic SEUSSICAL JR. will be presented at the Scottish Rite Auditorium at the end of this week for two performances, Friday April 6th at 7 pm and Saturday April 7th at 2 pm. All 34 actors are students on their Spring Break who prefer singing and dancing and acting rather than being at home on their devices. This annual production is comprised of all ALL kids and called KIDS ON STAGE. It is different than the Main Stage shows in that the entire cast is made up of kids. (RCT's Main stage productions are made of adults in the leading roles and kids in age appropriate roles.)
Led by the RCT Education team of Brett Roden, Ian Felker and Mary Hannah Garber, the young thespians are rehearsing from 8:30 am to 5 pm everyday. They are also getting a crash course on what it takes to put together an entire production in 1 week.
"I am delighted that all of these kiddos can have this experience for free. To have industry professionals work with young students and learn the process of creating a character, and putting on a show for an audience is very meaningful to us at RCT. Some of the actors are new to RCT, some would not have the financial resources to take part in in a camp or class like this. It makes me very proud," says RCT Director or Education Brett Roden.
Tickets are available at the door 1 hour prior to show time. It is general seating. $10.00 for all ages, for any seat. For further information call the theatre at 540-400-7795. Patrons may also visit RoanokeChildrensTheatre.org for full details.
