Peninsula Community Theatre is opening their 2013-2014 season on August 2nd through August 24 with the Hampton Roads premier production of Les Miserables.

Peninsula Community Theatre is excited to be undertaking the production of this epic musical masterpiece based on the novel by Victor Hugo. This marks a huge step for Peninsula Community Theatre as it marches its way into a new generation of theatregoers. This masterpiece required an innovative set design which in return has created a reimagined staging sure to be seen nowhere else. "The space is small so it has presented challenges for the production team and much of the show has had to re-imagined to accommodate the space. However, do not fret this visually stimulating production leaves nothing out but includes everything from invading the audience and pushing their senses to the brink all the way through to the final suicide and death of our protagonist and antagonist. Yes even Javert's suicide we leave the audience gasping.", says Corriveau.

Director Jeff Corriveau has assembled a talented cast of 35 for this production. Principals include: Jonathan McCormick (Jean Valjean), Tony Brach (Javert), George Revill (Marius), Steven Martinez (Enjorles), Alexandra Shephard (Eponine), Shelton Mullins (Cossette), Amy Stallings (Fantine), Neil Hollands (Thenadier), Bonnie Carlson (Madame Thenadier), David Carlson (Bishop), Triston Westphal (Gavroche), Olivia Hollowell (Young Cosette/Eponine), and Chloe R. McCarthy (Young Cosette/Eponine). Ensemble Members are: AnDrew Barrow, Peter Burgess, Zack Burgess, Becky Cumbie, Matt Downey, Brenda Epling, Kaitlyn J. Gallagher, Kirsten Kock, Becky Krantz, Scott Laske, Stephen Maney, Jason Martens, Erynn M. Millard, Caleb Myers, ChariTy Robinson, Dara Sherman, Andrew Smith, Linda Marley Smith, David Stallings, Nerissa V. Thompson, and Jordan Wentland.

The production team consists of: Jeff Corriveau (Director/Set Designer), Betsy Forrest (Music Director), Dana Margulies (Choreographer), Justin Giroux (Assistant Director), Sarah Parker Wilde (Assistant Director), John Wilt (Lighting Design), Cheryl Nabati (Costume Design), Andrew Hales (Sound Design), Sheri Beyrau (Stage Manager), and Misty Menken (Assistant Stage Manager).

The show has drawn many of the region's best actors. Members of the cast live in Virginia Beach, Norfolk, Poquoson, Gloucester, Williamsburg, Newport News, Hampton, Smithfield, and Portsmouth. The cast comes from a range of theater backgrounds and training, from those that have performed in national tours to those who came out to audition for the first time because of their love of this show.
