McLean Community Center's 7th Annual McLean Martin Luther King Jr. Day Celebration, "Embrace the Dream...Exploring our American Blues Heritage," will be held from 3-5 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 17, in the Alden Theatre, 1234 Ingleside Ave. General Admission is $5 for adults; $3 for children (age 10 and younger), which includes a dinner reception catered by The Tender Rib in Temple Hills, Md.
Presented in cooperation with the DC Blues Society, the program will feature the original, New York style blues of Michael Hill's Blues Mob. Ed Martin Luther King, Jr. National Memorial, will give an update on the progress of the project. Rev. Todd Brown, pastor of First Baptist Church Chesterbrook, will be master of ceremonies, and Rev. Robert Cheeks, pastor of McLean's Shiloh Baptist Church, will present the occasion.
