McLean Community Center Hosts MLK Day Celebration

The McLean Community Center will host its 9th AnnuAl Martin Luther King Jr. Day Celebration from 3-5 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 15, in the Alden Theatre. General admission tickets are $5 for adults; $3 for children age 10 and younger. The center is located at 1234 Ingleside Avenue.

Guest speaker Dr. Ed Jackson, executive architect of the Washington, DC Martin Luther King, Jr. National Memorial Project Foundation, Inc., will share his insider’s view of the months and weeks leading up to the dedication of the memorial and report on current fundraising efforts. Jackson was the featured speaker at the Center’s 2010 MLK Day Celebration. Rev. Todd A. Brown, pastor of First Baptist Church of Chesterbrook in McLean, will be the master of ceremonies. The celebration also will include performances by the Richmond Boys Choir and the African dance troupe, Taritibu. A reception, catered by The Tender Rib of Temple Hills, Md., will follow the program.
