Firehouse Theatre has announced the cast and creative team behind the Season 21 opening production, HAIR: The American Tribal Love-Rock Musical with lyrics by James Rado & Gerome Ragni and music by Galt MacDermot. Directed by Firehouse Theatre Artistic Director Jase Smith (The Wild Party, POP!, The Rocky Horror Show) with music direction by Leilani Giles (POP!, The Rocky Horror Show) and choreography by Starrene Foster (Levitate, The Wild Party, POP!), HAIR will play 14 performances, June 26 - July 19, 2014. Opening Night is Friday, June 27th.

"This is the largest cast we have ever assembled at Firehouse," says Artistic Director Jase Smith. "We are so lucky to have a great mix of Firehouse favorites and newcomers in the cast. These talented actors are also powerhouse singers and hearing them sing these old favorites like "Let the Sun Shine In" is pure magic."

The cast for HAIR includes Matt Polson as Claude, Richmond Theatre Critics Circle (RTCC) Award winner Nicklas Aliff as Berger, Style Weekly's 2014 Best of Richmond Best Actress winner and RTCC Award nominee Grey Garrett as Sheila, Maura Burroughs as Jeanie, RTCC Award nominee Carolyn Meade as Dionne, Keydron Dunn as Hud, RTCC Award nominee Ian Page as Woof, and RTCC Award nominee Morgan Meadows as Chrissy. HAIR will also featureAvia Fields, ReShad Horton, Cory Johnson, Starlet Knight, Paul Major, Austin Tate, Sasha Wakefield, and Chloe Williams.

HAIR features costume design by Karl Green, set design by Benjamin Burke, sound design by RTCC Award winner Joey Luck, and light design by Nathan Wunderlich. Led by Leilani Giles on piano, the band includes Bentley Cobb, Jr. on percussion, Grant Oliver on guitar, and Ron Fix on saxophone.

Peace, love and the '60s! Travel back to a time when youthful rebellion and optimism stood proud in the face of a war-torn establishment. HAIR exploded on Broadway and defined the counter-culture movement of the era. One of the most influential musicals of all time, HAIR still resonates with the divided America of the 21st Century. "Aquarius," "Let the Sunshine In," "Easy to Be Hard" ... the songs and optimism of HAIR triumph.
