Country singer/songwriter Kaitlyn Baker will make her Richmond, Virginia debut, when she performs an acoustic concert at The Tin Pan on Wednesday, November 16.

The so-called new "coal miner's daughter" has been performing since she was seven years old, but recently began to attract national attention. Her song "To Pieces" is being played by a growing number of country radio stations. The accompanying music video, which premiered recently on The Heartland Network, can also be seen on YouTube.

The pop culture website BuzzFeed called Baker one of country music's "brightest rising stars." Though she is a country artist, her songs have touches of blues, bluegrass, rock and gospel.

One of Baker's ballads, "Coal Train," was included in the 2015 Academy of Country Music (ACM) Awards ZinePak, a 2-CD compilation album that also included tracks by Blake Shelton, Miranda Lambert, Luke Bryan and other superstars.

Meanwhile, Baker's "Heart of Appalachia" was designated the official theme song for tourism in her native Southwest Virginia. The record was co-produced by bluegrass legend Larry Cordle, who also sings background vocals on it and appears in the music video. Click here.

Baker has performed on the nationally syndicated television concert series "Song of the Mountains." She also recently taped a segment for "The Porch," a documentary about Americana music by filmmaker Christian D'Andrea, who earlier this year teamed with The Firehouse Theatre in Richmond to produce a concert series. Baker also has a supporting role in another documentary, "Born in Bristol," about the 1927 Bristol Sessions, which marked the beginning of the country music industry.

"The Tin Pan has a reputation for excellent music, so I am excited to be performing there," Baker said. "I grew up in Southwest Virginia, but I have never been to Richmond, so I am really looking forward to visiting and seeing some of the historic sites."

Kaitlyn Baker will perform at The Tin Pan, 8982 Quioccasin Road, Richmond, Virginia, on Wednesday, November 16, at 8:00 p.m. Doors open at 6:00. Tickets are $12 in advance and $15 at the door. For information, call 804-447-8189 or visit www.tinpanrva.com.
