IN THE WORKS Comes to The Duplex Cabaret Theatre Sunday, 11/12

Moss Productions is proud to present "In The Works." This exciting series is in it's Second Season and was conceived as an opportunity for composers to try out new work in front of an audience and see how it plays in a supportive environment. It is also an opportunity to create community among the composers and their performers.

In The Works will be presented monthly and feature three composers or composer teams, each presenting about 20 minutes of new material. This month features the works of composers: Alanya Bridge , Thomas Hodges, and Tim Aumiller & Scott Schneider. Hosted by: Brandon James Gwinn.

With performances by Dayna Dantzler, Aleka Emerson, Katie Emerson, Taylor Frey, Emily Gardner Xu Hall, Conor Ryan, Mikki Sodergren, Sasha Weiss and Paul Wyatt.

The Duplex Cabaret Theatre is located at 61 Christopher Street (on 7th Avenue, just off the 1 train). Alanya Bridge is an award winning music theatre composer, the recipient of the Wirripang Publishing award for New Composition and Specialist award for best Vocal Composition in 2013.

Her writing credits include WHAT WE BEGAN (2012), CONNECTED (formerly Connect Four) (Metro Arts, Brisbane 2013, The Arts Centre, Gold Coast 2015, Harvest Rain Theatre Company, Brisbane 2015, Ruby's Music Room, Melbourne 2015), the showcase SOMETHING MORE (The Box, Brisbane 2013), SONGS SO FAR (Brisbane Powerhouse 2014, Leicester Square Theatre, London 2015), Short and Sweet Festival (Gold Coast 2014), Composer Spotlight for Musical Theatre Tuesdays (Theatre Royal Stratford East, London 2015), From Page To Stage (Tristan Bates Theatre, London 2016), The Ribbons Of Life (St Giles-In-The-Fields Church, London 2016), Home Grown (Chapel off Chapel, Melbourne 2016), Bridge To Broadway (New Globe Theatre, Brisbane 2016), Songwriters Night (Playlight Theatre Company, featured in March & May, New York 2017), Sound Bites 4.0 (The Pershing Square Signature Theatre, New York 2017), JUST A PHASE (R&D).Alanya studied in London at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, has a Master of Music (Distinction), and is a Licentiate of Trinity College, London. Alanya is currently undertaking a Masters in Musical Theatre Writing at the TISCH School of Arts, NYU, New York, and is a member of the BMI Lehman Engel Musical Theatre Workshop. She received the Rhona Morton Scholarship twice, for both her A.T.C.L. and L.T.C.L.

An Australian composer, lyricist, playwright, performer, and singer/songwriter, Alanya's other composing works include the documentary Lost For Words with Hartflicker Moving Pictures in 2013, and has recorded three CDs of original compositions. Thomas Hodges is based in New York but a California boy at heart. He spends his days teaching music and his nights playing music. Past compositions include: The Things We Never Say (San Diego Fringe "Outstanding Score" 2015, Perry Mansfield 2017); Dear Harvey (The Kennedy Center, New York Fringe, Celebration Theatre, Diversionary Theatre); Dorian (Commissioned by Diversionary Theatre) Underground (Perry Mansfield 2014). The Things We Never Say and Dorian are both available on iTunes as well as his personal albums Distance and Small Little Victory. Tim Aumiller & Scott Schneider began writing and producing in the fall of 2003, the year they founded their company NO HOPE Productions and debuted their first full length musical, DOSE!. Since, they have written four more full-length musicals and presented more than a dozen evenings of new music including two sold out shows at the legendary Joe's Pub - Siren/Kings In Concert and their anniversary celebration Pulling The Plug: a decade of NO HOPE . Hello, My Name Is Billy was a FringeNYC award winner and a Backstage "Critic's Pick." Hailed as a "rocking new musical," BILLY ran for six weeks at The Duplex Cabaret Theater and The Slipper Room in the spring of 2010 before its 2011 FringeNYC run at Le Poisson Rouge. NO HOPE has produced four other original FringeNYC selections: angel/buddy; Flight (also a Backstage "Critic's Pick), Over and Over (a Fringe Encore Series selection) and the critically lauded Luke Nicholas (4 stars from Time Out). Their song "Fools Like You" was featured in the 2014 award-winning documentary Actress. That same year New York Theatre Barn presented selections from Teach Me To Sing. In 2015, The NO HOPE Songbook Volume I: 2003-2013 was published. Their song "So Many Reasons" was nominated for a 2017 MAC Award. Brandon James Gwinn is an award winning composer-lyricist, musician and producer. His musicals include TL;DR - THELMA LOUISE; DYKE REMIX (The Tank, Pride fest), PATCHWORK (Prospect Theatre's Musical Theatre Lab 2017) COTTON CANDY AND COCAINE (Theatre C Workshop, Ars Nova Uncharted Residency), QUEER. PEOPLE. TIME. (Dramatist Guild Fellowship), MATCHMAKER MATCHMAKER, I'(M) Willing TO SETTLE (ART Club Oberon, New York Musical Theatre Festival 2011), HATTER (NYU Lab production), SMALL TOWN STORY (Finalist Richard Rodgers Award, NAMT Writer's Residency Grant, Village Originals Seattle, NYTB Commission) and UNDERWEAR: A SPACE MUSICAL (2008 New York Fringe Festival, invited production 2012 American College Theatre Festival). A critically lauded singer-songwriter, pianist and music director, he has arranged and played shows in Beijing, LA, San Francisco, Miami, and in New York. He is a regular pianist and entertainer at the famed West Village piano bar. Marie's Crisis.
