Groucho, A Life in Review Previews At Wayside Theatre 3/26

Wayside Theatre Artistic Director Warner Crocker today announced the cast for the final 2010-2011 Season production of Groucho, A Life in Review. The comedy begins performances Saturday, March 26 and officially opens on Sunday, March 27th continuing a run through April 23rd. The production is sponsored by WVPT-TV Your Source for PBS and More! and Royal Oak Computers.

The comedy, Groucho, A Life in Review written by Arthur Marx and Robert Fisher. The comedy reviews the life of Groucho Marx from age 15 to 85. Groucho was a member of the Marx Brothers, stared with his brothers in many movie comedies, and later in his career he was the host "You Bet Your Life" game show. Groucho was well known for his mustache and cigar, as well as, his legendary shtick of leering and girl chasing and hilarious one-liners and innuendoes. The New York Times said about the play, "There is laughter in abundance." Comedy and silliness abound in this adventurous journey through the life of Groucho Marx.

The cast is a mixture of Wayside Theatre audience veteran favorites: Returning to recreate the role of Groucho Marx is Peter Boyer (Moonlight and Magnolias), Vaughn Irving (Southern Crossroads: The New Orleans Adventure, Man of La Mancha, Southern Crossroads, Buddy! The Buddy Holly Story), Thomasin Savaiano ( Southern Crossroads: the New Orleans Adventure, Man of La Mancha, Southern Crossroads, Smoke on the Mountains trilogy), Katherine Yacko ( Southern Crossroads: The New Orleans Adventure, Dell Man's Cell Phone, Shenandoah, A Murder, A Mystery and A Marriage, A Christmas Carol) , and Heather Reid (A Christmas Carol, and Striking 12).

Groucho, A Life in Review is directed by Warner Crocker, Artistic Director and Steve Przybylski is Sound Designer and Music Director. The production set is co-designed by Heather Reid and Wes Calkin, Lighting Design by Wes Calkin, and Tamara Carruthers, Costume Designer.

Groucho, A Life in Review begins performances with two low priced performance at 2:30 pm and 7:30 pm on Saturday, March 26th. The official opening night is Sunday, March 27th at 6:30pm. Performances will continue through April 23rd. Ticket prices are $25 to $30 dollars for adults. Prices for children 17 and under are $10 for any show. Ask about discounts available for students and seniors. Group discounts are also available. Performances each week for Groucho, A Life in Review will be Thursday, Friday and Saturday evening at 7:30 pm and Saturday matinees at 2:30 PM and Sunday matinees at 2:30 pm beginning April 3rd.

Wayside Theatre is the oldest professional theatre in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia and is celebrating its 49th season of presenting high quality, professional entertainment in 2010-2011.
