Glass Wheel Studio is a contemporary art facility and home to an annual Studio Artist Program that aims to inspire artists across all disciplines to elevate their craft. Friday, November 18 from 8:00 - 10:00 pm the 2016 studio artists will celebrate the culmination of a year's worth of artmaking with an exhibition highlighting new solo and collaborative works.

Act One, on view November 19 - December 23, is the final exhibition of works created during the 2016 Glass Wheel Studio Artist Program. This immersive program is awarded to 13 visual artists annually. It provides opportunities for research, collaborative experimentation and ultimately aims to foster creative innovations. The exhibition will feature works by artists: Caitlin Blomstrom, Maggie Bush, Ali Feeney, Gayle Forman, Randy Hess, Hannah Kirkpatrick, Heidi Peelen, Charlotte Potter, Evelyn Robertson, Neal Robinson, Jennifer Sleeper, Amanda Page Stephens and Sarah Vaughn.

"We love bringing artists together," said Cheryl White, Director of Glass Wheel Studio. "It's exhilarating for me to witness the evolution of each artist's practice over the course of the last year and now be able to showcase both the individual and collaborative works from our 2016 studio artists."

To honor the one-year anniversary of Glass Wheel, White has also selected a new crop of local, regional and national featured artists, including Cynthia Miller, Daniel Joshua Goldstein, Wesley Fleming, Chuck Lopez, Windy O'Connor and Heather Bryant. "I'm excited to feature this group of emerging and mid-career artists in conjunction with our anniversary here in Norfolk."

The Chrysler Museum Glass Studio will host a free glassblowing demo featuring artists from the Glass Wheel program at noon, on Friday, November 18. That evening, fans will be able to meet the artists while enjoying night projections, light refreshments and a cash bar. Opening night attendees will have prime pick of one-of-a-kind pieces from these accomplished artists just in time for the holiday season.
