Firehouse Theatre begins its summer with a bang as they travel back to the counterculture of the '60s for POP!, a new musical with book and lyrics by Maggie-Kate Coleman and music by Anna K. Jacobs. Directed by Jase Smith (Rocky Horror Show, RENT, Reefer Madness) and sponsored by the Binger Center of Yale Repertory Theatre and The Lewis and Butler Foundation, POP! runs July 11 - August 10, 2013 with an Opening Night performance and reception on Friday, July 12 at 8pm.

Who shot Andy Warhol? John Mincks (Next to Normal, The Tempest) makes his Firehouse debut as controversial pop artist Andy Warhol. The fabulous drag queen Candy Darling, played by Ian Stearns (La Cage aux Folles, Avenue Q), hosts a happening whodunit musical in which the famous - and infamous - denizens of Warhol's legendary Factory all have motives to pull the trigger: Edie Sedgwick the "It Girl", Viva the intellectual, the outsider Valerie Solanis, Andy's most important associate Gerard Malanga, and speed-freak Pope Ondine. But the pop art icon unravels an even bigger mystery as he confronts not only the prime suspects, but also his art and his own greatest creation: himself.

POP! features John Mincks (Andy), Ian Stearns (Candy), Grey Garrett (Edie), Christie Jackson(Viva), Audra Honaker (Valerie), Evan Nasteff (Gerard), and Axle Burtness (Ondine). The creative team includes direction by Jase Smith, choreography by Starr Foster, music direction by Anthony Smith, costume design by Margaret Joyner, lighting design by Andrew Bonniwell, set design byEdwin Slipek, and projection design by Nathan Wunderlich.

POP! with book and lyrics by Maggie-Kate Coleman, music by Anna K. Jacobs.
