"The number and variety of Firehouse nominations this year speaks directly to the quality and passion of productions at the Firehouse Theatre," Founding Artistic Director Carol Piersol said. There are 20 total award categories. Winners will be announced at the RTCC's annual black tie gala, to be held at 7 p.m. on Oct. 8 at the Empire Theatre in Richmond. WWBT-TV12 Anchor Aaron Gilcrest will serve as master of ceremonies. Scheduled presenters include Richmond Mayor Dwight C. Jones and best-selling author David L. Robbins. Tickets are $10 each and may be purchased ONLINE or by calling 804-344-8040.

Founded in 1993, the Firehouse Theatre Project produces contemporary theater of the United States in an authentic urban space - the 101-year-old former Station House #10 of the Richmond Fire Department.

FTP's presentation of recent Off-Broadway shows and original works, through main stage productions, readings, and the annual Festival of New American Plays, has brought to Richmond audiences a New York City black box theater experience - but at far lower ticket prices and with greater emphasis on the actor.

The Firehouse's 2009-10 season starts on Sept. 10 with Howard Korder's "Boys' Life". For more information or to order tickets, visit the Firehouse Web site today.
