Children can take a musical journey onto an amazing Artic island through the music and multimedia performance, Elska "Middle of Nowhere," which will be presented at The Alden in McLean at2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 1. Tickets are $15, $10 for McLean district residents. The theatre is located at 1234 Ingleside Avenue inside the McLean Community Center.
The character of Elska was created in 2009 after actress Shelley Wollert took a trip to Iceland with her producer Allen Farmelo "I was completely inspired by the other-worldly sights and sounds of this beautiful, volcanic country," she said. Elska (which means "love" in Icelandic) is a completely imaginary world onto itself, filled with unusual characters and stories all taking place on a tiny, Arctic island. Through videos, artwork and music, children can enter Elska's world to play and imagine. It is a mesmerizing concert experience that both parents and children can enjoy.
